Hallucinations. Vomiting. Blisters the size of dollar bills. What else does running an ultramarathon across Haiti do to your body? Doctor Daniel Henning and his international medical team will be supporting this year’s Team Tassy’s Run Across Haiti — a seven day 230 mile ultra-marathon from Haiti’s northern to southern tip. Dr. Henning will be accompanying 21 runners, as they run eight marathons over seven days and ensure their health and safety across one of the most difficult and notorious races in North America.
When asked about his experience running across Haiti with Team Tassy, famed ultra marathoner Dean Karnazes said, “Running in Haiti was the most hideously beautiful experience I’ve had in my life, and I’ve run all over the world. It wrecked my body, yet cleansed my soul.”

Dr. Henning is an acting instructor of medicine within the Department of Medicine, practicing emergency medicine at Harborview Medical Center.
